SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. - Members of the Social Circle Board of Education began their meeting Friday by paying tribute to the victims of the nation's latest school shooting.
Seventeen students and teachers were killed Feb. 14 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
Board Chairman John Callahan began the meeting by reading the names of the 17 victims. The board then observed 1 minute, 17 seconds of silence in lieu of the tradtional opening prayer.
The meeting lasted for more than three hours as board members discussed the contract of Superintendent Todd McGhee. The board will meet again at 6:30 p.m. March 8.
