COVINGTON, Ga. – Two local schools were placed on a preventative lock down according to a Newton County School System spokesperson.
Newton High School and Live Oak Elementary school were placed on lockdown for about 10 minutes during the first day of school, NCSS Director of Public Relations Sherri Davis said.
“It was a preventative lockdown due to a suspicious person reported in the area,” she said. “We got the all-clear and schools are running on their normal schedule.”
