Newton High School principal John Ellenberg has announced his resignation, effective at the end of the school year.

According to Newton County School System spokesperson, Sherri Viniard-Davis, Ellenberg resigned citing a desire to work closer to home.

Viniard-Davis said the job announcement for the principal position has been posted. It will close April 1.
