0528Superintendent Applications

COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County School Superintendent (NCSS) Samantha Fuhrey is currently accepting applications for openings on her Student Advisory Council for the 2017-2018 school year.  The Council is comprised of seventh through twelfth-grade students selected through an application process. At this time, there are currently seven vacancies available for rising seventh-grade (current sixth-grade) students.

Students who wish to apply for the council should complete the essay packet and return it to Ms. Sherri Davis-Viniard in the Newton County School System Department of Public Relations by Monday, June 26, 2017. The address is 2109 Newton Drive NE, Covington, Georgia, 30014.

“It is extremely important that we reach out to our students to get their input on what we are doing right and also how we can improve,” said Fuhrey. “I was very impressed with the work of the student advisory council this year, and I expect next year to be just as productive. I enjoy working with the students and am already making plans for our meetings next year.”

The Student Advisory Council will meet with Superintendent Fuhrey once a quarter to discuss how decisions made at the district level are affecting students throughout the county. Meetings will take place at the Newton County Board of Education and transportation to and from school will be provided. Student members will serve as advisors and act as liaisons between the Newton County School System administration and the students of NCSS.

Applications are available on the homepage of the NCSS website at www.newtoncountyschools.org.
