Administrators announced for schools, central

After several assistant principals moved into principal positions in Newton County schools, the school board announced their replacements at their combined work session and monthly meeting last week.

Jeff Cher, who served as an assistant principal at Veterans Memorial Middle School in the 2008-2009 school year will be moving to Eastside High School to assume the role left by Dennis Roddenberry, who has been named as Eastside principal for the 2009-2010 school year.

Courtney Manning will become an assistant principal at Newton High School, replacing Dr. Carl Skinner, who moved to the central office of the Newton County School System, to serve as director of testing, research and evaluation. Mary Roach will replace Jeff Cher as an assistant principal at Veterans Memorial Middle School, and Teresa Sauls will replace Dr. Adria Griffin as an assistant principal at Clements Theme School.

Replacing Dr. James Peek, who was named as principal at Veterans, is Eric Taylor, who will be an assistant principal at the middle school.

Additionally, Dr. Kim Coady will take over as principal at East Newton Elementary School and Naomi Cobb has been named as the director of professional learning at the central office.
