Young Harris College senior music major Tara Shiver, clarinet, of Covington, and junior music education major Sam Wolaver, trombone, of Mansfield, will perform at a concert featuring the Young Harris College Concert Band at 7 p.m. March 22 in Glenn Auditorium of the Clegg Fine Arts Building on the Young Harris College campus. Shiver is a graduate of Newton High School, and Wolaver is a graduate of Eastside High School.

Directed by Mary Land, YHC senior instructor of music and director of bands, the 54-member YHC Concert Band will perform pieces by traditional composers such as Ralph Vaughan Williams and John Philip Sousa, as well as band music by modern American composers. The Union County High School Concert Band will perform several selections under the direction of YHC Adjunct Instructor of Music and UCHS Director of Bands Kerry Rittenhouse.

"This is an exciting time of change for the Young Harris College band program, with new ideas and exciting new initiatives," Land said. "This concert highlights a part of YHC's Music Department outreach program, as we partner with local public high school music programs."

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Young Harris College Division of Fine Arts at (706) 379-5182.
