The man found dead on the side of ByPass Road on Friday has been identified as 40-year-old Abraham Sprowal of Chicago.

According to Georgia State Patrol spokesman Gordy Wright, deputies from the Newton County's Sheriff's Office received a call about a single car accident around 7:16 a.m., however, investigators believe the deadly crash occurred sometime after 2:20 a.m. Which was the last time a call was placed on Sprowal's cell phone.

Sprowal's vehicle had been traveling northbound on Ga. Highway 142 when it left the road in a curve, struck an embankment and overturned. According to Wright, the seat belt was not in use at the time.

It is unclear if alcohol was a factor in the case, and toxicology results are pending.
