Denny Dobbs Park is finally a go, as the Board of Commissioners approved final plans for the District 2 park on Tuesday night.
The park plans underwent significant changes under the management of Sunbelt Builders in order to get the project under budget, and the BOC approved plans for the park not to exceed $1.485 million. The budgeted cost is $1.427 million, which will be paid with previously collected impact fees.
The BOC had postponed approval of the park earlier this year, waiting for the FY2010 budget to be approved and waiting for assurance that the park would be able to be built within budget and that the recreation department would be able to handle the maintenance costs. All of those concerns were satisfied Tuesday night.
Sunbelt officials said the ground breaking was expected to take place in two to three months.
