Weapons taken in trailer theft

On Jan 18, Covington Police (CPD) responded to Elite Auto Collision at 8415 Hazelbrand Road on a report of a stolen trailer. The trailer reportedly contained two rifles.

The victim, an employee of the business, reportedly told police that he had recently had relocated to Georgia from Washington state and was living in an extended stay hotel in Conyers. He had parked the trailer at his at his job.

According to the report, the victim stated that when he reported for work on Jan. 18, the trailer was gone and the lock that was on the hitch was in pieces on the ground.

The trailer is described as a 2007 14-foot, white, enclosed Mirage trailer with a tag number of 1584YX. The state was not indicated in the police report.

Among the items inside the trailer when it was taken were a Ruger 10-22 rifle with an after- market stock, a Savage 270 rifle with a black and brown stock and brown scope, a Snap On welder, a television and miscellaneous tools and clothing items. The trailer and its contents were valued at around $12,000.

CPD put out a BOLO (Be on the lookout) notice to neighboring agencies.
