COVINGTON, Ga. – Deputies arrested a 54-year-old Newborn man on drug and traffic charges early Monday after he reportedly ran from a traffic stop.

According to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, at approximately 1 a.m. Feb. 18 Deputy Matthew Robinson attempted to pull over a 2003 black Ford Explorer driven by Timothy Ray Lowe on Dixie Road at Oakridge Drive.

Lowe reported fled from the stop and led Robinson on a chase south on Dixie Road before coming to a stop at Brookwood Drive.  A NCSO spokesman said authorities believe that evidence was tossed out of the window.

Lowe was arrested and transported to the Newton County Jail charged with possession of methamphetamine, fleeing/attempting to elude, littering highways, obstruction of officers, reckless driving and tampering with evidence.
