SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. — A teenager was arrested at Social Circle High School in conjunction with a shooting in Newton County.
Social Circle police Chief Tyrone Oliver said the student, reportedly a 16-year-old, was arrested Tuesday morning without incident.
The shooting happened late Monday in Newton County. Social Circle police responded to the shooting scene, a gas station at the Hub Junction area, out of a mutual aid agreement and secured the location until Newton County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrived.
Oliver said school administrators called him about 7:20 a.m. Tuesday to tell him the suspect had arrived at class at Social Circle High School.
“We took him into custody without incident,” Oliver said. “He didn’t have any weapons on him. There were no threats on the school.”
Details of the shooting were not immediately available.
