COVINGTON, Ga. — A man reached over the counter and stole cash from the register at a downtown bakery, police said.

It happened at about 11:20 a.m. Tuesday at Bread and Butter Bakery, 1124 Monticello St. SW. Police said a man reached over the counter and took money from the cash register.

It was the second theft of money Tuesday morning. Two armed men were accused of robbing a person in the parking lot of the Walmart on Industrial Boulevard Northeast at about 6:35 a.m.
