COVINGTON, Ga. - After 107 days of recovery, Covington Police Department Officer Matt Cooper will be home for the holidays now that he has graduated from the inpatient brain injury rehabilitation program at Shepherd Center.

Cooper, who was shot Labor Day while pursuing a shoplifting suspect at Walmart on Industrial Boulevard, was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital before being transferred to the Shepherd Center for rehabilitation. Since then, the Covington community has rallied behind him in a show of support, through fundraising campaigns, prayer and other events.
