COVINGTON, Ga. – Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office are looking for the person responsible for shooting a man Monday evening.

NCSO spokesman Investigator Jeff Alexander told The Covington News the shooting happened between 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. on Mountain View Circle.

Alexander said the male victim was shot multiple times with a medium-caliber weapon. He was flown from Piedmont Newton Hospital to Grady Hospital in Atlanta where he is currently in stable condition.

NCSO has no suspects in the shooting. According to Alexander, all witnesses at the scene, including the victim have been interviewed.

Alexander said additional information will possibly be forthcoming tomorrow. The News will provide updates as they become available.
