Lyft driver killed in Thursday morning crash

COVINGTON, Ga. – The Covington News has confirmed that a Lyft driver died early Thursday after crashing into a tractor-trailer on Brown Bridge Road.

According to Newton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Deputy Michael Gregg, the deceased driver was traveling north on Magnet Road in a 2016 Kia Soul at 5:15 a.m. Feb. 15 when he reportedly ran a stop sign and collided with the tractor-trailer traveling west on Brown Bridge Road.

Gregg said the Lyft driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver’s name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Lyft is a rideshare company, similar to a taxi service or Uber.
