Failure to maintain lane, expired tag lead to drug arrest

COVINGTON, Ga. – A Conyers man was arrested by a Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) deputy on drug charges Thursday afternoon when methamphetamine was found in his truck after a traffic stop.

According to the NCSO incident report, Deputy Christopher Richardson was patrolling the area of Highway 212 April 27 just before 6 p.m. when he observed a Ford pickup truck being driven by Loomis Joe Edmonds, 27, fail to maintain its lane three times.  The truck’s registration was also expired.

According to the report, after the traffic stop and subsequent investigation, Edmonds admitted that narcotics found in the truck belonged to him. He was arrested and charged with VCGSA –Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, expired tag and failure to maintain lane.
