SOCIAL CIRCLE, Ga. –  Newton County deputies arrested a Covington man Sunday afternoon after he was found asleep in a stolen car in a driveway in Social Circle.

According to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, deputies were dispatched to a home on Patrick Road after the complainant returned home to find a grey car without a license plate backed into his driveway and a male in the driver’s seat who was “knocked out.”

After deputies were able to wake the subject, identified as 42-year-old Gannon Whitehead, he reportedly complied when they asked him to show his hands and open the door. The vehicle identification number was checked and the 2010 Acura was determined to have been stolen from Dunwoody.

There was no information available as to how Whitehead came to be in possession of the car or how he ended up in the driveway. He was arrested and transported to the Newton County Jail charged with criminal trespass and theft by receiving stolen property.
