Conyers man jailed after beer run to closed Kroger store

COVINGTON, Ga. – A 41-year-old Conyers man was arrested Thursday after reportedly damaging a door at a Salem Road supermarket while trying to get more beer.

Deputies with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office arrested Macky Sadao Johnyboy just after 5 a.m. April 12 after responding to a report of an intoxicated male at the Kroger at 3700 Salem Road.

According to the NCSO incident report, when deputies made contact with Johnyboy, who also goes by the name McKool, he was unsteady on his feet and had glassy and bloodshot eyes. He reportedly admitted to deputies he had been drinking and had come to Kroger to get more beer.

A witness told deputies Johnyboy attempted to enter the store multiple times, kicking the door and breaking the moldings around the glass. According to the report, the estimated cost to replace or repair the door is over $500.

Johnyboy was arrested and transported to the Newton County jail charged with second degree criminal damage to property and public intoxication.
