PORTERDALE, Ga. – The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a Tuesday afternoon accident that sent a child to an Atlanta hospital.
According to Porterdale Police Chief Jason Cripps, the child was playing in the front yard of a Birch Street home at 5:20 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle. He said emergency services were contacted within a minute and responded to the scene.
Cripps did not say how the accident happened.
He said the child was flown to Egleston Hospital for Children. The child’s condition was not released.
Georgia State Patrol was called in to work the accident with PPD. Cripps said the driver was cooperative with authorities.
No names have been released and there is no word on any charges.
Cripps described the incident as an “unfortunate accident.”
