COVINGTON, Ga. – Deputies responding to a 911 hang up call Thursday afternoon arrived at the scene to find a “badly burned” 10-year-old boy, according to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report.
A deputy wrote in the report, “When we arrived, we found a juvenile male who was badly burned while trying to cook.”
According to the report, the boy told deputies he jumped off the balcony to try and get away from the fire and broke his wrist and fell on his face. He was reportedly turned over to EMS and taken away by life flight.
A Newton County Fire spokesman told The Covington News the fire report is not yet available. The hospital and condition of the boy is unknown.
