Covington to spend $46,000 on excavator, trailer

The City of Covington agreed to purchase a new excavator and trailer during Monday night’s public meeting.

The city council voted unanimously to make the lowest bid purchase from Mason Tractor Company. The total payment is of $46,150 for a Kubota Kx040 Excavator, quick coupler No. K7870, 24-foot quick attach bucket No. K7875 and 18-foot Tag Trailer.

City Manager Leigh Anne Knight said the funds were from the 2015 budget.

The council voted on the winning bid from three others: Atlanta Kubota at a cost of $47,985, Lashley Tractor Sales for $47,178 and Hooper Trailer Sales, Inc. for $3,500 for just the trailer.
