The Newton County Board of Commissioners (BOC) and Solid Waste Authority (SWA) are working to reschedule a meeting after scheduling conflicts caused the cancellation of Thursday’s joint work session.

SWA Chairman Wayne Haynie told The Covington News both the BOC and SWA have a lot to discuss together, however “key members” were not available for the Thursday meeting time so they decided to reschedule. He said they would probably reschedule within a week or so.

Around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Newton County Clerk Jackie Smith and SWA Clerk Bernice Sanders sent out a public notice announcing the joint work session for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in the Newton County Fire Headquarters.

Later that afternoon, Smith and Sanders sent out another notice announcing the cancellation of the meeting.
