COVINGTON, Ga. - Newton County’s five Convenience Centers and one Recycling Center will be open Monday, July 3.
The centers, which are typically closed on Sundays and Mondays, will have a change in its schedule just for this Monday, in order to accommodate citizens’ needs around the July 4 holiday. July 4 is recognized as a county-wide holiday, and all county offices will be closed on that Tuesday, including the Convenience Centers and Recycling Center.
Due to the possibility of the centers being closed for three consecutive days because of the holiday, county officials have decided to open Monday during regular hours, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. After being closed Tuesday, July 4, the centers will reopen Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The county’s six centers are located:
Adams Circle - 2010 Adams Circle
Stone Road - 70 Stone Road
Stewart - 14645 Highway 36
Piper Road - 10545 Highway 36
Oak Hill - 112 Oak Hill Road
*Bypass - 11575 Covington Bypass Road

Newton County offices and buildings, including the Newton County Historic Courthouse, will be open Monday, July 3. Newton County residents may purchase their vehicle hang tags to enter the county’s Trash Collection Convenience Centers at the Newton County Historic Courthouse Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The hang tag purchase center will be open Monday, July 3 and closed Tuesday, July 4.
