Citizens see inner workings of city

The City of Covington Citizens Academy was created in give the residents and corporate citizens of Covington a chance to see, understand, and interact with the inner workings of city government.

During the 12-week program, participants learned about the services, resources and programs offered by the city and met and interacted with the men and women who provide those services. a

The classes, a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and interactive activities, focused on the police and fire departments as well as the 911 center. Interactive activities included firearms and Use of Force training as well as police and fire "ride alongs."

The city is planning its next Citizens Academy class. Anyone who is interested in more information about the program should contact Lt. Al Miller or Capt. Ken Malcom with the Covington Police Department.
