COVINGTON, Ga. – Two downtown businesses are officially taking advantage of the new alcohol ordinances put in place by the Covington City Council earlier this year. WildArt and Blair on the Square Boutique were the first to receive their licensing under the new ordinance.
With its new license, WildArt has the ability to allow patrons to bring wine or beer into its business to consume. Blair on the Square now has the ability to offer complementary hospitality drinks for free to store visitors.
Councilman Kenneth Morgan was the only opposing vote Monday evening to approve the two licenses.
The approval of the ordinances took more than a year after it was brought to the council’s attention that businesses were providing the services and unknowingly breaking the law.
The ordinances were voted down last year, but were later approved at the start of 2018 in a split vote.
