Porterdale mulls bow hunting ordinance

Porterdale city council members discussed a draft ordinance at their last work session that could allow bow hunting of deer inside the city limits of the historic mill town.

The council reviewed a ordinance amendment from 2010 that had been approved by Covington City Council. The amendment allowed for the discharge of archery equipment inside the city limits. Covington's ordinance also requires that those using the archery equipment for hunting deer follow state law.

Council member Mike Harper cited the increasing number of deer in Porterdale as his reason for initiating the discussion.
