The new Chief of Police for the city of Porterdale will be sworn in today.

Geoffrey Jacobs has been selected to fill the position, which has been empty since former chief Wayne Digby left the post in September.

Jacobs has served in law enforcement for almost three decades. Most recently, he served as Uniform Division Commander for the Snellville City Police Department, where he worked for the past 27 years. He has also worked in Lawrenceville and in Dave County, Fla.

The swearing-in will take place at 9 a.m. at City Hall.
