NEWBORN, Ga. — The Pitts Chapel Road bridge at Pittman Branch in Newborn is closing on Tuesday, Jan. 7, for 120 days, requiring an off-site detour.

Gregory Bridge Co. has the $727,000 construction contract to rebuild this outdated structure resting at the Jasper and Newton County line. The official signed detour will track along Jones Road, state Route 142 and North Johnson Street.

Local traffic will be allowed up to the work zone and all property access will be maintained as needed.
