Darby introduced as new Covington P&Z Director

COVINGTON, Ga. - Mary Darby, a Newton County resident, has accepted the position of Planning & Zoning Director for the City of Covington and is scheduled to start in the new role Sept. 3. 

"Mary comes to us with 25-plus years of experience in planning with credentials in areas of comprehensive planning, zoning and development, transportation, National Environmental Policy Act and public involvement practices," City Manager Leigh Anne Knight said. "She has work that includes comprehensive plans, zoning ordinances for municipalities, amending those zoning ordinances, pro-active rezoning and focuses on making language and illustrations clear and user-friendly." 

Darby has previously worked for the City of Atlanta, Georgia Department of Transportation and Fulton County. 

"We are so excited to have her on board with us," Knight said.
