A masked man allegedly used what employees thought looked like a machine gun to rob a fast food restaurant Saturday evening on Crowell Road, according to reports from the Newton County Sheriff's Department.
At roughly 8:40 p.m. a young black male dressed all in black, wearing a ski mask and gloves entered the Subway restaurant. According to employees the man had a muscular build and was roughly 5-foot-8-inches tall and weighed approximately 165 pounds.
The man produced what appeared to be a machine gun, according to reports from employees and told the clerk to open the drawer and give him the money. The man left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and headed north toward the interstate, according to 1st Lt. Mark Mitchell with the NCSO. No vehicle was spotted by the restaurant employees.
