Update: Pittman Construction was unable to resurface the roads around the square this past weekend because of the rain on Saturday night. Construction Foreman Danny Baker said the company plans to resurface the square this weekend, using the same timetable, from 9 p.m. on Saturday to noon on Sunday, and the same detour plan, see below. Pittman will be working on the main line of Ga. Highway 36, from Covington ByPass Road to the square, this week.

July 31, 2009

The Covington square will be closed from 9 p.m. Saturday through noon on Sunday, if no rain delays occur.

Signs marking detours will be in place around downtown:

- Clark Street will be blocked off between Hendricks and Elm streets

- Washington Street will be blocked off between Hendricks and Elm streets

- Monticello Street will be blocked off between Usher and Reynolds streets

- Church Street will be blocked off between Usher and Reynolds streets

All vehicles must be removed from the blocked off streets and parked in off-street lots. Patrons will be still allowed to access Amici Italian Cafe, Scoops and R.L.'s Off the Square

Pittman Construction Company will begin by milling Church Street so as to minimize the impact on the residents of the Lofts.
