The Covington Rotary Club will present its 18th annual "Cars of the Past" car show from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday on the square.
Car show participants must register, which costs $20 and is available through Friday by calling Rotary member Lanier Sims at (404) 787-2852. You can also register the day of the event for $25 at the registration booth on Pace Street.
Last year’s event brought around 5,000 car enthusiasts downtown and netted about $7,500, Sims said. About 275 exhibitors have registered so far.
Proceeds will go to Rotary’s general fund. Sims said most of the money will likely be used for the club’s Empty Stocking fund. Rotary partners with The Salvation Army each year to buy gifts for children younger than 13. More than 800 children have been helped.
In addition to the car show, there will be vendors selling food and gifts, including Bradley’s Bar-B-Que and Square Perk. The Rotary Club will also be selling T-shirts.
The club also had a car show on Aug. 7, which benefitted the Newton County’s Miracle League project.
