Denny Dobbs Park continues to move toward completion, as C.P. Richards Construction Company was hired to be the project’s general manager, for a cost of $819,500.

Employees for project manager Sunbelt Builders previously said that the construction was expected to start sometime in September or October, and will take about six months to finish. The park is expected to be open by spring 2010.

Tuesday the Board of Commissioners approved three more purchase orders for the park: $13,548.27 for a septic tank from EWMSI; $24,761 for erosion control and grassing from T&S Martin; and $48,442.35 for benches, tables, grills and basketball hoops from Hunter Knepshield Company.

The BOC approved a $193,990 purchase order for multiple playgrounds in July. Purchase orders for pavilions, covered picnic tables and landscaping will be made at a later date.

The park’s first phase is expected to cost just under $1.48 million and will include basketball courts, multiple playgrounds, pavilions, restrooms, a baseball field and a life trail, which has different exercise areas and machines along its path.
