Locals celebrate Nat'l Assisted Living Week

Residents at two of Covington's assisted living facilities received some fun and pampering Tuesday in honor of National Assisted Living Week, which runs from Sept. 9-15.

According to National Assisted Living Week's website (nalw.org), "National Assisted Living Week celebrates the unique relationships that staff, family members and volunteers have in caring for the one million residents in assisted living communities nationwide. During National Assisted Living Week, assisted living communities plan and host a variety of events and activities for all to enjoy based on a theme.

(Right) At Merryvale, employees of People's Home Medical and Amedisys cleaned wheelchairs and walkers for the residents, while they enjoyed live music, dancing and ice cream sundaes.

(Above) At the Benton House, residents participated in a casino night, with card games, such as Hand and Foot and poker. They also enjoyed upbeat music and snacks.
