Plenty of entertaining, family friendly events are here to kick off the New Year. This list includes events for various areas of interest and price for all to enjoy. Check out events in Atlanta and around the area.

Footloose
There are several upcoming events for any and all lovers of the arts. "Footloose: The Musical" will be performed by the Eastside High School Drama Department Jan. 17 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. and Jan. 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Eastside High School. Doors open 30 minutes prior to show time. Ticket information is available by calling the school at (770) 784-2920.

Visual Poetry
Visual Poetry is presented by the Atlanta-Fulton County Public Libraries now through Jan. 25, Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Several types of art is on display for public viewing free of charge.

Blue Man Group
The Blue Man Group will be at the Fox Theatre Jan. 15-20. The performance is a unique experience that you and your family will never forget - and worth every penny. Ticket prices start at $34 (including all service fees). More information is available at foxtheatre.org.

Ringling Brothers
If you're looking for a laugh, then consider one of these: The Ringling Brothers will return to Atlanta Feb. 13-18 with their circus, "Dragons." Tickets start at $14 and are available for purchase at ringling.com.

In addition, the Ringling Brothers will be offering a fun and rewarding way for children ages 2 through 12 to earn a free ticket to the circus. Two "Ambassadors of Laughter" will be visiting several Atlanta public libraries and entertaining the children with funny, eccentric methods of reading. The clowns will visit three libraries on Tuesday, Jan. 15: Five Forks Branch at 11 a.m., Collin Hills Branch at 4:30 p.m. and Southwest Branch Atlanta at 7 p.m. On Wednesday, Jan. 16, the clowns will visit Sandy Springs Library at 4 p.m., and on Thursday, Jan. 17, the clowns will visit Lithia Spring Public Library at 4:30 p.m. and Coweta Central Library at 7 p.m.

Family Improv
"Family Improv" will be presented at The Basement Theatre in Atlanta now through March 1 every Friday at 8 p.m. This improv show is guaranteed to entertain all ages. Tickets are $10 each and $5 for students with a valid student ID.

Snow Mountain
For those who are feeling adventurous, try these: Snow Mountain is still up and running at Stone Mountain through Feb. 18. From sledding to snowman building to roasting marshmallows at a bonfire, there is plenty to do at Snow Mountain. Tickets are available for purchase at stonemountainpark.com.

Boat Show
The 2013 Progressive Insurance Atlanta Boat Show will be hosted by the Georgia World Congress Center beginning today, Jan. 11 at 11 a.m. and Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 12-13, starting at 10 a.m.
While many will attend with hopes of scoring a deal on the latest boats and accessories, there will be attractions to entertain guests of all ages. Tickets are $12 for adults; children 15 and under enter for free.
