The chamber of commerce will hold its fourth annual Shred Day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today in the parking lot of Antiques and Stuff, 2177 Elm St., Covington.

Business and residents are invited to bring over any and all important documents that need to be shredded, particularly those including private financial information. If a business or individual is planning to bring a large number of boxes, they should notify the chamber ahead of time at 770-786-7510 to ensure space is available.

Identify theft is one of the fastest growing crimes in the world and affects around 600,000 Americans yearly, according to the FBI.

The event is being co-sponsored by Newton Federal Bank and all shredding will be handled by Conyers-based A Cut Above Shredding.
