C-FARE is an initiative between the 10th District GaFWC clubs and DFCS Region 5 resource development unit. C-FARE stands for Community Foster and Adoption Recruitment Effort. The initiative invites community members, either as individuals or with organizations, to join with DFCS to find foster and adoptive homes. This was the 2nd annual C-FARE event. The first was held in Oconee County in June 2008. During the past two years of Tina Daniel Reasey’s 10th District GaFWC Presidency, GaFWC clubs have been encouraged to assist local agencies in advertising the need for foster and adoptive homes, as well as being able to assist foster children. The event was held in Athens at First AME Church on Feb 16. Peggy Hawley and Tina Daniel Reasey of the Service Guild of Covington attended along with 30 plus other concerned people from churches, agencies, DFCS, businesses, and foster/adoptive parents. The focus was on promoting the "C-FARE Bear" program. Individuals are asked to pledge to providing the mini-program to groups in their communities. The stories attached to the bears are real life children who are in foster care and ready for adoption.
