Tyrone and Lorna Carrington believe that earning a reputation as an honest and reliable business is the recipe for success. Their business, TLC Carpet Care, is a testament to their goals of providing exceptional customer service.

Born and raised in Barbados, Carrington was 15 when he became his father’s apprentice. Through the subsequent years of working with his father, Carrington and Lorna learned the necessities of running a successful enterprise. While others seek to profit by cutting corners or recommending unnecessary services, the Carringtons believe that a good reputation of trustworthiness and consistent service will reap bigger profits in the long run.

After working in Connecticut for 10 years as a carpet cleaner for schools, the Carringtons and their two sons, Kenmore and Tyrone Jr., came to Newton County with the intention of opening a business. Using everything his father had taught them, Carrington started TLC Carpet Care.

The family-owned and operated carpet cleaning business serves most of the Metropolitan Atlanta area, providing services including traditional carpet and upholstery cleaning, pet odor and stain removal and tile and grout cleaning. They also perform carpet repairs, re-stretching and sofa mattress cleaning. The business holds sales and promotions each month and also at times offers free items such as deodorizers and sanitizers.

"One call and we’ll be out there as soon as the next day," said Tyrone Carrington. "Our work is 100 percent guaranteed. And we offer 24-hour customer service, so if you’re not happy with what we’ve done, we’ll come right back and correct the issue."

As Carrington hopes to see his business expand over the next few years, he plans to be more active within the community.

"I’m always willing to volunteer in the community," said Carrington. "I would love to give back to the community that has been so great to us. I would be willing to volunteer my services to places like nursing homes or churches."
