Newton Medical Dermatology Consultants is welcoming their new doctor, Michelle Juneau. Fresh, and enthusiastic, Juneau is excited to started providing the time and understanding to her patients, providing them with exceptional dermatological services.

A New Orleans native, Juneau attended University of Georgia as an undergraduate before heading back to her home city for medical school. She was trained at LSU’s Health Sciences Center in New Orleans Department of Internal Medicine for a year; she performed a year of research at Research Institute for Children at Children’s Hospital New Orleans studying mycology; three years of resident training with Department of Dermatology at LSU New Orleans.

Juneau was an intern when Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005. Fresh out of medical school, Juneau was caught in the whirlwind of one of the worst disasters in American history.

"It changed how I thought I would be practicing medicine," Juneau said. "We had to do a lot of improvisation. The charity hospital where I was supposed to train was gone… the patients’ needs were different, but I learned a lot about medicine. It was a great experience under very unbelievable times."

Practicing in both Newton County and Buckhead gave Juneau the opportunity to come back to Georgia; she had grown fond of the area as an undergraduate at UGA. What really attracted her to Dermatology Consultants was supportive staff.

"They really support each other and seem to be very honest and open," Juneau said. "They offered everything I was looking for. And the people were the most wonderful of any of the places I interviewed. And I interviewed in many places across the country.

As Juneau settles into her new home, the avid runner hopes to grow acquainted with the community, to get to know her patients so she will be able to address their needs.

"The people here in Covington have been so nice and pleasant," Juneau said. "The homes here are so beautiful… It’s a wonderful place. I’m excited to meet more people here in this city."

Dermatology Consultants, P.C. specializes in general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. Their staff consists of eight board certified physicians along with five certified physician assistants. They have two other locations in Marietta and Buckhead.
