COVINGTON, Ga. — A new affordable senior community is coming soon to Covington, Dominium, a Minneapolis-based leading apartment owner, announced earlier this week.

A groundbreaking celebration for the new senior community, named Covington Crossing, will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 16, at 5188 Clark St. SW.

The community will provide 198 units of one-, two- or three-bedroom apartments for seniors, according to the Dec. 10 press release. The housing will be restricted to seniors 55 years of age or older, who earn no more than 60% of the median income in the area.

Amenities include a clubroom, card and craft room, library, fitness center, movie theater, outdoor patio with grilling area, beauty salon and easily-accessible parking, according to the release.

“We believe that it is important to create affordable housing for seniors who want to stay in their communities,” Nick Andersen, vice president and project partner at Dominium, said in a statement. “We are excited about our first ever new construction project in the state of Georgia and are happy to fill the needs of these seniors.”
