On Thursday, May 7, the Covington-Newton County Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with Newton Federal Bank and A Cut Above Shredding will hold the second annual Shred Day. This event is open to all businesses and citizens of Newton County. The event will be held in the Chamber's parking lot at 2101 Clark Street from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.

There will be no cost for local businesses and residents and no limitations on the number of boxes or bags that can be shred. This day is designed to help business owners and residents understand the risks involved in throwing away documents that contain "sensitive" information. "With new FACTA legislation the need to shred documents is even greater," said Chamber employee Lisa Oglesby.

The Chamber of Commerce invites all to come out for this event. For more information contact the Chamber at (770) 786-7510.
