Belks to hold charity sale

Schools and nonprofit organizations can raise money through Belk’s semiannual Charity Sale, to be held 6 to 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 16.

Everyone wins: Groups can sell $5-off tickets for the sale and will in turn receive $5 from Belk for each sale. Consumers who buy the $5 tickets will receive $5 off their purchase at the sale.

There is no limit to the number of tickets charities can sell, or to the amount of money they can raise, according to the release. Belk will provide tickets and informational materials at no cost.

Tickets may also be purchased from Belk stores beginning April 8, with all revenue divided among participating charities and schools.

On April 16, the first 100 customers in each store will receive free Belk gift cards, valued at $5 to $100, and a chance to win one of three $1,000 Belk gift cards being awarded company-wide. Participating charities and schools also will be registered to win one of three $1,000 donations from Belk in a company-wide drawing.

The event raised more than $9.5 million for charities last year. See your local Belk store or see http://www.belk.com/AST/Featured/Promo_Details/wk9_charity_sale.jsp for information.

Organizations must have an IRS Section 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service.
