On Saturday, April 14, The Church at Covington will host a fundraiser for Jason Joyner. Family and friends have put together BBQ plates that consist of pulled-pork BBQ, buns, stew, slaw, chips and a cookie.

Tickets are being pre-sold for $10 and can be purchased by calling Sheri Joyner at (678) 270-0905. Extra plates will be sold at the event after all pre-ordered plates have been filled.

Jason had a major stroke in February and has been making his way through recovery ever since. Unfortunately, due to circumstances he has not been able to return back to work since the stroke which has put a financial toll on him and his family.

"Our insurance is going to be canceled soon as well," wife Sheri Joyner said. "His company's policy only allows 12 weeks medical leave and afterwards it can cancel the policy."

Jason's family and friends have rallied behind him and his family through it all.

"When we decided to do this they started calling up buying 10 or 20 tickets at a time," Sheri said. "They've been so helpful through this journey."

The Church at Covington is located at 11975 Hwy 142. Plates can be picked up from 11 a.m. until 2:30 p.m.

"We also made T-shirts and decals to sell with ‘Jason's Journey' (his logo) on them," Sheri said. "T-shirts are $20and decals are $3."

The event will take place outside under tents in the front of the church. Approximately 400 tickets have been sold, thanks to the generosity of the community.
