A local educator was recently re-elected to the board of directors of a professional organization with more than 84,000 members.
Alcovy High School Principal Sandra Owens will serve her third three-year term on the board of the Professional Association of Georgia Educators (PAGE). The board meets quarterly to set policy for the professional educators association, the largest such group in the state.
PAGE members are teachers, administrators and support personnel who provide “professional learning to enhance competence and confidence, build leadership and increase student achievement.”
Owens will represent PAGE District 11, a 13-county region of East Central Georgia with about 7,800 PAGE members. She has been a member for 14 years and has served the organization as a building and a system contact, according to a PAGE press release. She is also a national board certified educator.
The election took place earlier in June during the PAGE Summer Conference.
