A Taste of Downtown Covington, a local event developed by Main Street Covington, will take place on Thursday, April 25, from 5:30 to 8 p.m., on Monticello Street.

Designed to showcase and promote downtown dining, most of the restaurants in the downtown district as well as Spires Interiors and students from the Culinary Arts Program at the Newton College and Career Academy will be participating.

Along with participation from local restaurants, community partners that have come together to make the event possible include the Newton County Trail-Path Foundation, Hands On Newton, Dramatic Arts Production Theatre, Friends of Chimney Park, Vampire Stalkers/Mystic Falls Tours, Covington/Newton Visitors Information Center, Southern Heartland Gallery, and the Montessori School.

There will also be a performance by the Haynes Home School Group at 6 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Bradley’s BBQ, Square Perk Cafe, or Spires Interiors. This includes 10 tastes from the vendors.

The theme of this year’s Taste of Downtown is showcasing local TV and film production.

There will be a red carpet for guests to have their photograph made, and DJ Steve with Outrageous Events will be present, playing movie soundtracks, and there will be raffles.

The Spring Community Paint Out, hosted by the Southern Heartland Art Gallery, will give all guests the opportunity to take part in the painting of panels with an image reflecting the theme.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Community Food Pantry and the Downtown Summer Concert Series.
