Officers from the Covington Police Department are looking for those responsible for a burglary off the square. But unlike traditional burglaries, the thief didn't break into the store. They broke out of it.

Police were called to The Little Store on Church Street Tuesday morning to speak with an employee who told them when he arrived that morning; he immediately noticed the store had been burglarized.

The employee showed officers where a person(s) had apparently hidden in the store until it closed at 5 p.m. the day before. They them removed several items from the store, making their exit by using the southwest door that leads out to Reynolds Street. The perpetrator reportedly used bolt cutters from inside the store to exit.

Roughly $1,500 worth of merchandise was taken. All of it was very hair-specific, and included beard trimmers, hair dryers, hair trimmers, curling irons, flat irons. They also stole approximately $2,500 in human hair extensions ranging in length from 8 to 18-inches. Also stolen were synthetic hair braids valued at about $200 and $150 worth of crème relaxer.
