U.S. stocks are opening slightly lower, pulling the market back from an all-time high reached last week.

Energy shares were among the biggest decliners in early trading Monday as the price of oil fell.

The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 65 points, or 0.4 percent, to 18,070 as of 9:35 a.m. Eastern time. The Dow closed at a record high on Friday.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index lost four points, or 0.2 percent, to 2,106. The Nasdaq fell three points, or 0.1 percent, to 4,953.

Exxon Mobil was one of the biggest losers in the Dow average, giving up 84 cents, or 1 percent, to $89.09.

The price of oil fell $1.32 to $49.49 a barrel in New York.
