ATLANTA (AP) — Georgia Department of Natural Resources officials are reminding hunters that the deadline to apply for deer season is quickly approaching.
Department spokeswoman Melissa Cummings says the deadline for the deer quota hunt is Sept. 1.
A quota hunt is a hunt that allows a predetermined number of hunters to participate. Wildlife officials say a quota is used to conserve wildlife and their habitats, while providing a high-quality hunting experience and maintaining a high level of safety.
Officials say interested hunters need to complete an online application.
