CHAMBLEE, Ga. (AP) — Police are searching for suspects after a $500,000 movie camera was stolen from a crew filming "Dumb and Dumber To" in metro Atlanta.
Chamblee police say a photographer and his partner parked their rented SUV at an International House of Pancakes restaurant on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and went in for breakfast on Oct. 12. When they returned, they realized the camera was missing.
WXIA-TV reports that the camera was to be mounted on the bottom of a helicopter for filming. They were heading to Peachtree-DeKalb Airport to make the helicopter preparations when the camera was stolen.
Police say the thieves may have punched the driver's side door lock out to get into the vehicle. They made off with the 110-pound Cineflex Elite Camera, a laptop and a headset.
