Marvel superheroes Spider-Man and Captain America will appear on Saturday, October 25 at noon at the Mall at Stonecrest. Fans of The Avengers are invited to meet Spider-Man and Captain America up close and personal during this exclusive Atlanta appearance.

Just in time for Halloween and in recognition of National Bullying Prevention Month, parents and children are invited to "dress up" like their favorite superhero for this special event.

Spider-Man is Marvel's flagship character and company mascot; he has gone beyond the page and appeared in many outlets, including several animated and live-action television shows, syndicated newspaper comic strips, and a series of films starring Tobey Maguire as the hero in the first three movies. Andrew Garfield took over the role of Spider-Man in a recent reboot of the films.

Captain America first appeared in Captain America Comics #1 (cover-dated March 1941) from Marvel Comics' 1940s predecessor, Timely Comics, and was created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. As of 2007, an estimated 210 million copies of "Captain America" comic books had been sold in 75 countries. For nearly all of the character's publication history, Captain America has been the alter ego of Steve Rogers, a frail young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum, in order to aid the United States government's imminent efforts in World War II. Captain America is armed with a nearly indestructible shield that can be used for defense and can also be thrown as a weapon.

The Mall at Stonecrest features five major department stores including Dillard's, JCPenney, Kohl's, Macy's and Sears, and 130 specialty stores, a 16 screen AMC Theatre with stadium seating. The Mall at Stonecrest is located off I-20, exit 75 Turner Hill Road in Lithonia. For more information, go to www.mallatstonecrest.com.
